The second race in the UAE, the Emirates Cup, was held on a "hotdog course" (just two turns) with 10 laps of 12 km near the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
After having missed the right breakaway the day before, the team was alert from the beginning and all placed in front. After only a couple laps, the peloton was split into two groups thanks to the strong crosswind. CKT - Champion System was the only team who had all riders up in front. The 35 men managed to stay away until the finish. It came down to a bunchsprint, which was prepared very well by the team for Jaan Kirsipuu. Unfortunately the Estonian sprinter got cramps just as he was about to launch the sprint. The possible early season win did not happen.
With only very few road training kilometeres in their legs, every team member showed a good race and already decent form, but unfortunately the big effort made in order to get a succesful result did not pay off. The next chance to perform will be given in Mumbai, India on february 21st (Mumbai Cyclothon 1.2).
